What Really Makes a Relationship work?

So my mom and I were having a convo about relationships after watching Khloe and Lamar and it got me to thinking about the key elements to making relationships work. My parents have been together since they were young and I’ve been able to observe what works & what doesn’t.

I would definitely say step 1.) is trust. I’ve been in situations where I felt like I couldn’t trust the person so I just cut em off. What’s the point of being in a situation with someone if you can’t trust em? Lack of trust will just lead you to worry and stress and the last thing I’ll EVER stress about is a guy.. NEXT

2.) The next element I think would be keeping things fresh and new. Being young and in a relationship, it’s easy to grow sick or tired of the other person I know for me it is at least soo there’s nothing wrong with giving each other space so that the appreciation for one another will stay present b/c things are always perfect in the beginning but then it gets real!

3.) Stand your ground. It’s ok to be nice but not too nice…that gives the other person the green light to just wild out. And I ain’t having that!

4.) Don’t move too fast. Take baby steps get to know the person inside and out, there’s nothing wrong with that.

5.) Don’t bring previous problems into a new situation. That’s one way to make the other person RUNNN. I mean it’s just immature and like Y?! If you’re still hurt from a prior relationship plz don’t get into a new one; that saves drama and stupidity.

6.) Make an effort. All relationships have drama there will be arguments but don’t be petty if it’s a situation as little as my bf or gf added someone of the opposite sex on FB then calm down.

7.) Keep pride AWAY. Pride is like the number 1 killer to a relationship. Having pride is cute when you’re like 16 but once you get older stop it. or you will end up lonely. It’s one thing to be strong n not put up wit the shenanigans like myself I refuse to put up with anything less than what I deserve. But if you’re in a good situation or even in a good friendship it’s ok to put your pride aside and talk out the problem. Now I’m not saying say you’re sorry if you’re not but it’s ok to wanna work on things.

8.) Ask yourself are you happy? It’s not being selfish if you put your feelings on a pedastool. If you’re not happy you gotta talk to the other person that’s making you unhappy and if you don’t see change then well give em the boot.

9). Don’t betray the other person’s trust. EX: Cheating. now I know I put this as #9 but this is verrryy important. If you feel like you’re ready to explore let the other person know what’s gud. Whether they respect it or not that’s better then leaving anyone in the dark.

Well those are 9 key elements to making a relationship work I tried to do 10 but I couldn’t think of 1 more but when I think of that 1 I will certainly add it..! LOL. What do you guys think it takes to make a relationship work? Did I miss anything?

Valentines day aka the “love day” is a day that we shower our crushes, significant others, friends, or maybe even family members with L-O-V-E! In this post I’ma let the girls in on some sexy hair styles, sexy but classy pieces/outfits, and hot makeup tips that’ll really make other’s eyes POP!

V-day Hairstyle ideas to run wit:

A little bit of shoulder action never hurt.

- A swoop and a loose side ponytail is always fun and flirty

Ex: of a few styles to play with

-If you’re like me (someone tht prefers their hair down) big waves or curls with one side over the shoulder is very sexy

-Up dos are always very romantic mature and sophisticated or if you want a combo of both you can do half up and half down

Makeup Tips for VDAY

- Smokey eye is always dope and very fierce. I loveee lovee loveee a smokey eye but when doing a smokey eye remember be soft on the lips because you don’t wanna look crazy or hard with too much makeup on. Besides guys especially hate too much makeup anyway.

Ex.: Olivia Blois off the show ”Jerseylicious” always does a bomb smokey eye

-If you don’t wanna do a smokey eye you can keep it classy with neutral colors ie. gold and make it pop with a red lip or even a HOT pink lip. I love red lipstick it can be very sexy and very sophisticated. SMOKING HOT!!

Ex:

-If you’re more of a “safe girl” you know the girl that isn’t the type to play in makeup, then neutral colors such as the golds or beige or olives would be the best bet with a nude lip gold lip or maybe even a cotton candy pink lip.

Valentine’s Day Outfit Suggestions

Ok now I know Vday is the day of the reds and pinks but Black is definitely my all around fav. color. Black is just so classy and can be worn in so many different ways. But if you want to keep it traditional here are some easy but still flyy suggestions and pieces:

- Red Blazer w/ jeans (casual but cute)

- Red skirt

- Strapless dresses

- Tank

- Red knee highs

- Red stockings

- Red shorts

Realistically because it’s cold the outfit that Lauren London is shown wearing below would be cute with black stockings and a scarf

My mixtape Glossworld The Evolution jus dropped and on my mixtape I have a song called Fame. The song Fame is one of my fav records on th mixtape bc it’s a story tellin record w/ an old skool hiphop vibe. When the mixtape was released I came to find out that Amber Rose has a song called Fame as well. Although our versions sound totallllyy different I thought it was a cool coincidence. “Glory” by Jay-z really brought a couple of tears to my eyes. I felt very warm listening to it being tht Jay-z is my favorite rapper everrrr I own alla his albums so I have my jayz favs and now i have another one to add to th Hova classics. The song got really personal and talked about situations that no one would’ve even thought went down ie. previous miscarriage. It was a beautiful record even down to Blue’s debut… I could only imagine how close hov n his daughter will b jus bc I kno wat it’s like to have my dad n my life and the fact that we’re so close!!! From whn i was a little girl studio hopping with him til now still studio hopping….lol Bey n Hov have a lot to look forward to… Long live the queen king and their new princess!!

I have a reading program called Bosses Read where I go to different middle and high schools to encourage the kids to read more. Reading is truly fundamental! In that spirit, I just re-read Who Moved My Cheese by Dr. Spencer Johnson because it’s a simple yet powerful parable about success in work and life, which is a balance I think we all strive for. This book always motivates me every time I read it. What are some of your favorite motivational books?
